    Hello!

I’m pretty new on SEO and I have a doubt about how google trends works. I’m comparing two keywords and comparing them by region in the map. According to it, term A has a value of 13% and term B 87% in Mexico for the last 12 months. The problem is that when I check the volume of searches for these terms in other platforms like semrush term A has a much higher volume than B for the last 12 months. What am I doing wrong?

You may be seeing something similar to what we do in Canada. Canadian privacy laws impact what data can be stored and searched. Therefore tools that forecast based on modeling and can’t use actual search data are going to be skewed.

Google has access to the actual data, therefore it’s modelling IMO is way more accurate than some other tools, especially here in Canada. I know I don’t use hrefs or moz for any Canadian clients because the tools are so skewed in their data. I’m not 100% sure if this is due to our privacy laws or not. But that was one of the few explanations I could come up with to account for the major discrepancies I was seeing.

Google trends displays whats in its name, search trend! It has nothing to do with volume so although keyword A might have a higher search volume than keyword B, its possible that keyword B is trending more right now.
