Google Merchant Account suspended for Misrepresentation

Posted by unimportantsarcasm on September 7, 2023 at 3:28 pm

    Hi there,
After adding sizes, colors and what not to my products to have them show on Google Shopping for free, Google decided to fml. My website is [sweatersweather.com](https://sweatersweather.com)

I handknit my items, so I sell custom made products inspired by high fashion brands. I have taken some photos from the internet of these sweaters, but I have tended to stay on the free logo products, so there would be no copyright infringement. I have added a Refund, Shipping, TOS, and Privacy Policy, as well Meta Descriptions.

I have not declared fake GTIN or anything else, as I left them blank, but I was planning on adding MPN before this happened. Could someone please help me? I do not really get what Misrepresentation means… Like ok I read the Google article, but it is so many stuff at the same time, and I am not sure which issue has affected me.

Love the domain name and the sweaters are super nice!

I am not sure what you meant by “I have taken some photos from the internet of these sweaters” … if you are using other people’s photos for some reason (even if they are of your product). I would stop doing that to be safe.

One of your sweater says Gucci on it, so many Google has an issue with that one. Maybe Google doesn’t think you are allowed to sell Gucci products as you are not a reseller.

Since you make things by hand, you don’t need to add MPN to the shopping feed. It won’t help with your performance.

If you go into GMC > Diagnostics and near the top it will say Account Issues. That area will sometimes give you more details around your issue.

There’s some info here about the Gucci stuff and MPN/GTIN, but go for the low hanging fruit first.

Absolute first thing in misrepresentation suspensions, you have to have contact information listed on your website – business address, business phone, email. If you don’t have these, you’ll never get rid of the suspension. Google recommends 2 out of the 3 but have all 3 to be safe.

This is laid out in editorial requirements but the suspension tag is usually misrepresentation https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150244?hl=en
