    Google learning mode modalities?

Posted by myuser01 on October 20, 2022 at 8:16 pm

So, my impressions of learning mode on Google Ads is this…

    1. Learning mode is almost certainly a point on a graph. Google just picks some random point and assigns anything left or right on the curve – learning mode, not learning mode. It’s not binary, it’s a gradient.

    2. Accounts which have millions of spend over many years are still – in reality – in learning mode due to the changing nature of the market eg. Consumer trends, new tech, software updates, weather etc. Hence there’s no escaping learning mode IMO.

How does everyone handle learning mode? Do you leave the account spin its wheels ie. Go unchanged for a set period eg. 14 days?

What are your coping strategies for getting the best out of (new) accounts in learning mode?

Is there anywhere I can study this phenomenon? Eg. The machine learning tutorials on Kaggle and/or Google maybe?

I highly doubt Google chooses a random point. They have lots of smart people there, people who know maths very well. Plus, they have historical data.

As for your second point, now you’re thinking more like Google does. Note that an account doesn’t have to have spent millions. Those math wizards have tricks to make good predictions and often with surprisingly very little data. I don’t know and doubt they use the type of data like consumer trends and weather that you mention but it is possible.

How do I handle learning mode? I don’t, I use manual and let the system make its own decisions as little as possible.

I’m sure there are books if you’re interested in learning how it’s done. Would be heady stuff but if you’re willing, why not. Surely some universities have such programs, I doubt however you could find a night class for that however. You’d need maths and computer science knowledge.

Learning mode is Google’s buy in price to be automated. I don’t see how some so smart 100000 signals bla-bla-bla can be so stupid.
