So, my website is new started around in December, 23. By April 15, I did pretty well and daily around 400 keywords would rank with average position of 45 plus daily impressions of close to 1500 and got around 15 clicks. But, after April 15, no idea what happened now daily maximum 150 keywords show up in gsc and get around 2-3 clicks. I am waiting since 2 months to see there was any bug but seems there isn't and it's constant since then. I have been buying links so not sure if it's due to that.

My main keyword that I wanted to rank for and bought links has completely disappeared since 15 days generating 0 impressions. I see no penalty in gsc and when I type in that keyword and my company name the page does show up on google but just keyword shows nothing.

    1. Have I received algorithmic penalty? If yes how can I verify this and what steps should I take to fix and how long it'll take to recover? Is disavow needed but some youtube videos say disavow is not at all required google ignores links on it's own.

    2. I could understand that my main keyword is delisted but here more than half the keywords have disappeared and I believe not all can be penalized.

    3. About 2 weeks ago all my backlinks disappeared in links section which I think happened to a lot of people. From 3000 links I came on to 52 then after a week all of them appeared including my main keyword that I'm delisted yet impressions are 0 for that keyword till today.

    Please let me know.

It sounds like you might be dealing with an algorithmic penalty due to the sudden drop in keyword visibility and backlinks. Google’s algorithms have become quite sophisticated, and buying links can often lead to penalties if not done cautiously. While Google has stated that their algorithms can ignore unnatural links, relying solely on this without a proactive approach can be risky.

First, conduct a thorough audit of your backlinks and identify any that might be of low quality or appear unnatural. If you ascertain that some links could be problematic, using the disavoli tool as a precaution might be wise, despite mixed opinions on its necessity.

Recovery from such a drop can vary, typically ranging from a few weeks to several months, depending on the issues’ severity and your corrective actions.

Have you made any recent changes to your site’s content or structure that might also affect your rankings?

Given the disappearance and reappearance of backlinks in GSC, it might be a glitch; however, I would recommend keeping a close watch on your link profile and continuing to build high-quality, relevant backlinks.

Also, consider diversifying your SEO strategy beyond link acquisition, focusing on content quality, user experience, and technical SEO to build a more resilient site against algorithm changes.

How are your competitors performing in comparison during this period?
