Google just suspended my entire business account. I have no idea what I did!
Posted by [deleted] on August 2, 2024 at 3:51 pmI'm in tears right now.
I've worked tirelessly for three months building my website and trying to do everything right (I sell furniture, accessories, luggage and decor).
I launched a very small ad campaign today, all green ticks all the way.
Within 2-3 hours I was permanently suspended for breaking some 'circumventing' rule? I don't even know how or why or what this means.
Can someone help please? I'm absolutely f*cking GUTTED right now. My business is likely dead before it was born after all this work and all because I must've made some innocent admin error somewhere.
They didn't even send me an email. Just suspended without explanation.

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 4:01 pmI feel your pain. I can’t go into details right now at work, but one red flag is DROP SHIPPING SITES (can be done, but they have gotten much more strict) and not having contact info. There are many threads on this, search and get going. Do NOT simply open another account nilly willy.

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 4:09 pmthis is quite common. it’s happened a few times with clients over the last 12 months
best advice is keep persevering with google support
have you completed the advertiser verification? it a situation like this that will definitely help

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 4:10 pmYou will be able to work through the disapproval. However, you need to rethink your go to market approach. It is highly unlikely you have the margins or customer lifetime value to sustain paid media traffic profitably. How else can you promote your business? You need to diversify.

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 4:11 pmUsually, the circumventing systems issue is the result of some malicious code firing on the website, likely from a third-party technology you are leveraging. Reach out to a Google rep and you should be able to get it unsuspended and a case opened to investigate. I also recommend you looking into the development and seeing if you can find any malicious scripts from tools you may leverage if you have that capability.

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 4:52 pmYou made a claim that you shouldn’t have. This is the problem with self serve platforms. Big brands hire an agency to do the work because they have the money. Google realized this and just figured marketers and small business owners could do the same. Yet they give too much credit for thinking people read their best practices let alone IAB guidelines. It’s tough to know without seeing the ad, but we run audits at $75 an hour with reporting, usually takes an avg of 5-7 hours depending on how much data we have to go through.

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 6:01 pmAfter 10+ years of managing multiple Google accounts I finally had my first ban for a dentist client. I also panicked, but after many repeated emails to Google support I was reinstated after about 4-5 days. This was like 2 weeks ago.
It’s an automated system and can and does make lots of false positives apparently. I’ve always done everything by the book. I think you’ll come out fine.

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 6:28 pmThis just happened to me 2 weeks ago and I had a complete meltdown, I 100% feel your pain. I was able to get my account reinstated by submitting an appeal AND setting up a call with my account’s designated Google rep where I explained the situation (in my case it was a mistake made out of ignorance), and then he submitted a ticket on HIS end to supplement my support ticket. My account was reinstated the next day.
If you log into your Google Ads account and click the Help icon in the upper right-hand corner, the Quick Help panel will pop up. At the top of the panel, there should be a card that says “Your Dedicated Google Ads Expert” with the option to schedule a call.
If there isn’t anyone listed, you may not have a rep assigned to your account yet. In that case, call Google Support and ask them to assign a rep to your account, it’s your best shot at getting reinstated quickly.
Good luck! I’m pulling for you!

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 9:36 pmI’ve had 4 accounts suspended this week on set up for this. Once verified I submitted appeals and they all got reinstated after 2-3 days.
Don’t know if it’s an o going thing they are currently doing.

GuestAugust 2, 2024 at 11:02 pmQuit being so dramatic. Submit a ticket. If you did everything right then it will be fine.
Worst case open a new ad account and do the advertising verification.
This is a non issue.

GuestAugust 3, 2024 at 2:48 amIt happens often on brand new accounts, relax. Just appeal and describe everything in details, That it is a brand new business and brand new account, and you’ve done nothing wrong. They’ll reinstate. I manage multiple business ads accounts and happens often. Sometimes, it is just a billing issue, and after reinstatement, you’ll get a notification to update billing info or a card on file. Good luck
Hmm… hold on… I just noticed that the user deleted the account 😐 -

GuestAugust 3, 2024 at 8:32 amDo you have 2 domains? Circumventing involves a mismatch of the domain of the ad compared to the domain being used to send customers to.
