I’m an artist and was fortunate to be part of the early AR filter beta group on Instagram back in 2019. At that time, users had to follow me to access my filters, which led my account to skyrocket from 10,000 to 500,000 followers in a short span. However, after the initial surge, my follower count started to drop steadily, and now I’m sitting at around 150,000.

I understand that many people were only following me for my filters, and the number of followers isn’t my primary concern. However, I feel like my account has become “broken” in some way. No matter what content style I try, it seems like it just isn’t being shown to people. I’m aware of the algorithmic shifts in social media and the current landscape, but it feels like something is fundamentally off with my account.

For instance, getting 2,000 views on my stories is considered a good day, which is frustrating given the size of my follower base. I would really appreciate any insights or advice on what might be going on and what I can do to improve my reach. I’m also open to sharing my account privately if anyone would like to take a closer look.

Check your flagged for review followers. In your followers tab. You can toggle the setting for them to remove inactive followers in settings > follow and invite friends…. Engagement is more important than follower count, instagram thinks it’s taking the trash out for you

Guess you will need to grow your „own“ community again. Find the people who follow you for you and your Content and are interested in what you show -> also watch your stories.
This can be exhausing and time consuming but basically the only way i see right now to gain a normal/ active following🤷🏻‍♀️

Create a new account and ask people to follow it. Your interested audience will go after you to the new account and there will be more engagement comparing to the followers’ number. In this case the algorithm will be on your side.
