I’m trying to keep this from just being a huge wall of text so here goes. My relationship with SEO started in 2012. I decided to start my own business in a extremely small niche of the tourism industry. I was not someone who ever thought I’d go into business but I saw an opportunity or more like something I wanted to do and I was willing to learn whatever it took to do it.

I was way way over my head but I made it work. By 2018 I had three employees and things were good. I’m someone who has lots of hobbies and enjoys having a social life so I don’t ever wanna work to much so things were ideal. I intended to keep things small and easy to manage.

Covid hit and really changed the industry where I live and I would say in-general larger companies have dominated just like they have in other industries. I had a bit of a crisis and spent about 3 months riding my motorcycle through the desert. By the time covid restrictions had started to lift two years ago I decided I would put all my savings plus a low interest loan into a content marketing SEO campaign.

Today I’m getting 3-4 times more traffic then when I started. The recent Google updates actually gave me a bit of a boost on some of the really challenging keywords I was trying to boost my rank for. I have burned through much of my capital but we are no longer reliant on google ads. All that said if we still have to content with slow season (summer time) it doesn’t matter how well you rank if there’s no tourists, there’s no tourists.

So I’ve been thinking it might be nice to have other work lined up by summer 2024. I have only done SEO for myself and I’m far from a “guru” but I have managed grow my website and I’m pretty sure I could help others do the same. I think I’d like to work for someone else but I have no idea how to go about this. I found people to write content on UPwork and was thinking that could be an option, or maybe linkedin? I am not from a professional background at all, I did go to college but I never did anything with it, before starting my business I mostly made my living doing odd jobs, construction or med studies (no joke) But I do have a decade of real world experience. I am really good at critical thinking, making connections and generally thinking outside the box.
