    Hey marketers,

    I posted a week or so ago about a timeline in which a small business can DIY their own LocalSEO to make an impact online, and use the internet to actually generate leads.
    Thanks to those that replied to my post.

    From there, I have created what I think could be a 20 week plan to create a solid foundation for a small business.

    Here is the timeline:

    Week 1
    Create a Google Business Profile
    – Create your account and verify it
    – Add logos, contact details, business hours, and description

    Week 2
    Optimise your GMB account
    – Add work images, services, attributions, et

    Week 3
    Create a reviews link
    – Generate your Google Business Profile review link
    – Add this link to your website, email signatures, create a QR code and add to business cards/POS/business assets

    Week 4
    Make a list of citations and add citations
    – Global
    – Local
    – Industry specific
    – Data aggregators

    Week 5
    Set up GTM, GA4, GSC
    – Insert header and body code to your website

    Week 6
    Setup conversation tracking
    – Set up call tracking
    – Set up lead form submission tracking

    Week 7
    Create reports
    – Use Google Data studio to build automated custom reports

    Week 8
    Do a website on-site SEO audit
    – Use online tool to pull reports Eg: SEMrush

    Week 9
    Fix your easy on-site SEO issues
    – Fix any major issues pulled from your report

    Week 10
    Do a website design audit
    – Check CTA buttons are clear
    – Check contact info is easy to find
    – Check responsiveness for mobile

    Week 11
    Fix your easy design issues
    – Fix any of the above

    Week 12
    Do keyword research
    – Use online keyword research tools to find popular keywords and key phases in your industry
    Week 13
    Add your keywords to your website
    – Add these keywords to your website, title tags, and meta tags
    Week 14
    Create your social media accounts
    – Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and where ever else your target market hangs out online.

    Week 15
    Add location pages to your website
    – Add information around the products/services you offer with targeted location pages.

    Week 16
    Add blog posts to your website
    – Add information around the products/services you offer and industry specific information.

    Week 17
    Create email lead generator
    – Have an e-book, pdf, infographic, to give away in exchange for an email address
    Set up a nurture campaign with emails

    Week 18
    Create Google Ads account
    – Set up a Google Ads account

    Week 19
    Create Meta Ads account
    – Set up a Meta Ads account

    Week 20
    Automate your marketing
    – Outsource blog writers and social media content creators

    Week 21+
    – Create Google and Meta Ads,
    – Update your website (if applicable)
    – Generate backlinks to your website
    – Post on social media
    – Post blog posts
    – Generate reviews

    Next steps, will be to finalise the structure and then build out steps to action each task in more detail.

    If anyone has some spare time, I would appreciate some feedback on things that I have missed or if the timings need to be rearranged on some items

    Not sure that it’s “missed” in that some of these are fairly broad, but we’re huge proponents of optimizing your product feed and making sure Google is aware of it in all possible.platforms.

    Localized inventory can be huge.

    Other than that I think it’s a good outline.
