I study CS and am looking to get some ideas for a project I am working on. Could be anything from something small to an overarching feature, thanks!

I like anonymity, but I wish there was a way to silence bots and spammers.

For more than a decade been wishing for an all comms platform aggregator. Like Hootsuite for personal accounts.

I wish it didn’t connect other social medias and phone numbers.

They all say they don’t but somehow I have all these ppl I know in my recommended despite trying to avoid them.

I also like the idea of old school platforms – old instagram and MySpace.

Where you can customize your page and are encouraged to dump your best picture from the weekend.

The ability to auto adjust image and video size according to device, rather than separate landscape /portrait sizes.

Social media should require legal age. I would say Germany allows 16 year olds to have a beer in a pub/beer garden … 16 should be legal age for beer ???? and TikTok/ Instagram and all.

Assumption: Social media doesn’t include 1:1 & small group messaging — to be determined/ regulated what a small group is not part of discussion.

I use only Reddit and Facebook. I like Reddit because I like actual discussions, but would like to be able to post a picture alongside it every once in awhile. I don’t use any other social media apps because I don’t enjoy watching videos, nor looking at photos as the predominant posting.

As for Facebook, they do absolutely nothing about bots. Almost every single news post has tons of emoji-overload comments about how to “win back your ex” by going to so-and-so’s profile. And if you report it, you’re told that it doesn’t violate any “community standards.” My friend had his profile cloned for the purpose of hawking a government-grant scam, and if you clicked on the profile, it was a foreign email address. Many of us reported it, and we were all told the same. It remains up to this day!

    Customer service is crucial.

A platform that isn’t controlled by the Narrative, one that isn’t left or right, republican or democrat and doesn’t use propaganda to sway people one way or the other. A platform that isn’t bias towards any ideology or agenda, one that is truly freedom of speech/freedom to share information on ANY subject whether it be Covid or the Vaccine….no bullshit fact checkers, no banning creators/influencers based on “cancel culture” opinion, if you don’t like someone for their opinion that’s fine, don’t follow them simple as that. This whole cancelling ppl based on nothing but a few cry babies opinions after hearing a couple of one liners from a podcast recorded in 2016 is absolute BS. YouTube Facebook Instagram are all running these apps based on their personal beliefs and sometimes stripping people’s careers out from under them just because they don’t necessarily agree with someone’s opinion is absolute garbage. Freedom of speech and expression “obviously within appropriate guidelines” we just ask that we use common sense here…freedom of speech should be a top priority, no shadow banning no demonetizing if somebody has a large following and is popular but somewhat controversial they should still be allowed to have an account on the platform…ie “Alex Jones” and “Andrew Tate” are obvious ones that come to mind. Any conspiracies and the like should be allowed to be expressed even if at the time they seem outlandish, cuz look at what’s happening, they’re coming true, as a creator with a large following who creates full time for a living on FB Tiktok, YouTube and Instagram, these are the things that would matter most to me. Hope this helps and I sure hope somebody creates a truly 100% free app soon. Thanks!

Personally, I think it would be cool to add a feature whereby users can share consuming content, whether it be posting videos or even just surfing pages. Something similar already exists on platforms that allow you to watch movies together. Or you can draw an analogy with the fact that your friend includes a demo for you on Discord.

I think it would be interesting to watch such sharing of leisure in social networks, as people spend more and more time on the Internet, sometimes even preferring it to real life, no matter how sad it is. So, such a feature could be a distinctive for newly emerging media or successfully integrated into existing ones.

social media should have a group for promotions only related to a specific industry. As of now – a day’s Facebook organic reach is dead. So, there should be something in its replacement.
