Hey guys! I work as a fact-checker for a Serbian fake news debunking portal.

Currently, I’m trying to find out where are links to fake news articles being shared on facebook. I’ve collected around 250 links of articles we have debunked on subject of COVID-19 and I want to find out in what Facebook groups had they been shared to know which groups to monitor for future research.

Is there any tool that could help me automate this process? I’ve tried CrowdTangle Link check Chrome extension and BuzzSumo, but didn’t have any success. Basically, I need to know all facebook groups (and pages if possible) that have shared certain link

    Thanks for help in advance!

Obviously some groups / pages are private and there’s nothing you can do about those. I assume you’ve tried the regular old Facebook search? Pasting in a link (with extraneous url vars removed) into the Facebook search and making sure that “show results from anyone” is selected yields some results though I’m not sure how all-inclusive they are.

Edit: Actually after trying a few article urls, I found that selecting “Public” vs “Anyone” produces better results. And you might need to put the url in quotes. And this is most likely an inadequate technique for your purposes. Best of luck though!

I don’t think Facebook offers a search like this.
