Facebook Ads collapse in Feb/March, anyone having success?
Posted by seohelper on March 7, 2021 at 7:19 pmWent from $1400 a day ad spend over last 2 years to under $500 a day. ROAS has collapsed from 5-6 to 1-2.
Anyone having any success with anything at this point? Dynamics/Lal/general interest?
I know ios 14.5 hasnt dropped yet, but i visited a website last week and an ominous message popped up about being tracked by Facebook.
Hoping my business doesn’t collapse but trying multiple different venues at this point is yielding little success and revenue has plummeted.

GuestMarch 7, 2021 at 7:41 pmI’m seeing a rebound currently, but I’ve been struggling since September. I’ve switched to mostly LLAs because cold targeting was just way too volatile in cost.
February is usually slow for ecom, though. Could it maybe be that?

GuestMarch 7, 2021 at 7:47 pmWe’ve been supplementing with a lot of display, native and pre roll with our programmatic agency. This has really helped maintain CPA and robust retargeting.
We didn’t see that substantial of a drop after iOS but conversion campaigns don’t seem to be able to spend their full budgets.
We used to spend $1000-2000 per day and now it’s around $750-1250 most days.
Again, mostly on conversion campaigns. Traffic campaigns are the same.

GuestMarch 7, 2021 at 9:55 pmAre you talking in-platform ROAS? Attribution windows have shortened, affecting the calculations. Do you have automation built that relied on the old window?

GuestMarch 7, 2021 at 10:08 pmYes we’ve tried broad, LLA, interests, everything but still struggle to get decent returns on campaigns that were previously really good.
Not sure what else we can do besides test creative and even then I think the algorithm is so messed up that it won’t matter too much.
We are looking at other channels now as Facebook is just too unreliable.

GuestMarch 7, 2021 at 10:09 pmI duplicated and relaunched all my ads and changed nothing else. Everything bounced back up.

GuestMarch 7, 2021 at 11:34 pmIt most likely is IOS 14 changes as Facebook has started rolling it out. If you are mostly dependent on Facebook, the impact might be higher for your business. Few questions that might help to assist your situation.
* Is the ROI drop just in the Facebook interface or across the website, like also seen in GA or Shopify etc.
* Have you verified your domain with Facebook and set up your event manually?
Has the CPM or CPC also increased or just Cost per conversion.
* What are the campaign strategies you are using? Generating leads on Facebook might have less impact from IOS 14 changes.
* Check your past performance to see how many conversions are from iPhone. In the long term, you will have to change your strategy to build a more robust system. This is just a beginning.

GuestMarch 8, 2021 at 12:00 amStarting to see things get better since the Jan 19th bloodbath, but CPAs are still double what we saw before

GuestMarch 8, 2021 at 4:29 amI’ve got a hot take on this..
From a user and advertiser perspective, the platform felt like FB fully reset pixel data. My personal news feed suddenly was full of irrelevant pop culture articles, and all of my previously strong campaigns and audiences took a dive. Ad performance was spotty for two weeks following.
Starting to see things come back around after restarting everything. -

GuestMarch 8, 2021 at 5:24 amHi. It’s the usual drop for spring season. Been in e-commerce for 8 years, every year is the same . Things will pick up mid august

GuestMarch 8, 2021 at 3:04 pmSame here.
We went from having 5-7x return on FB ads to 2x return since 2 weeks ago. We spend around 200 usd a day.
We’ve relaunched all campaigns, added new creatives etc but nothing seems to help. Last year at this time we were having up to 10x return on the same product.
Pretty sure that it’s the algorithm that causes it, the traffic that we get now seems to be garbage.

GuestMarch 9, 2021 at 5:07 pmHow are you triggering your conversion events? We switched from browser conversion events to server-side conversion events right before February to avoid the changes from iOS14 and our ROAS has actually doubled over the past month (manually calculated; not looking at the ads manager dashboard).
