Emails from google account managers offering their services

Posted by ppcwhizkid on September 27, 2024 at 2:12 pm

    Hello!

I get emails, mostly from google appointed 3rd party providers I guess, offering support, something like "I'am XYZ, I am your Google Account Strategist assigned to ABC Co. My role is to be your go-to person for Google Ads, including any Google data and account recommendations, at no cost to you"

As I have tried the services before and have had bad experiences, I ignore the emails. Sometimes they reach out to clients as well if you do not respond and then the client asks you what to do.

What is your answers to the client;s questions regarding the services and 2. Do you respond to their emails if you do not need help?

    Thanks

I make sure to respond to those emails. First to confirm that I’m still the primary contact for the account in question, and second to say I’m not interested in their services. If they don’t get a response, they’ll start contacting everyone who has access to the account. They still might anyways, but there’s less of a chance if you respond.

If they do reach out to a client, I find it’s easiest to just buckle and schedule a meeting then report back to the client that not much came out of it. If they get too pushy I tell them to fuck off in a polite way then submit a complaint.

Dont bother getting their advice. They are there to spend your money and will advise you based on their false understanding on how to effectively run ppc. Use your own data, dont rely on them!

9 times out of 10 it sucks, but if you get a higher level account manager they actually give good insights and you can tell they aren’t reading off a script like the lower level support.

I tell them to never contact us again. They stop for a month or two.

Their advice will be mostly towards getting you to spend more even at the detriment of your campaign’s performance. They can still be helpful with getting you with the right team for issues with billing, tracking & verifications. Just keep in mind that revenue is their metric in doing their jobs.

I always email them back and say:

“Unsubscribe – I don’t need or want your services.”

One thing we do since we have had many bad experiences with third-party Google reps, is reach out to our clients about the rep, usually in a forwarded email. And, let them know that the recommendations they are making don’t serve client(s) best interest. Also inform your clients that they may be contacted as well and to disregard their messages. We found that this works really well since we ignore Google rep emails and calls too.

I’ve found that the U.S. based account managers are actually much better/more understanding than the xWF vendors. In my experience if you spend >$100k/quarter you should qualify for actual Google employee support. Quality of said support can vary then as well, of course

If you look on Ajay’s email signature, you’ll probably see that he works for a company on behalf of Google and not actually for Google. Google outsource this stuff for small spending clients and Ajay will go through a script and tell you to turn on all the automation features in Google Ads. He doesn’t have any experience in digital marketing.

If you get someone from Dublin or Madrid or somewhere in Europe, then they do actually work for Google and can be quite helpful. But part of their job is still to get you to increase your ad spend, so they will emphasize the traffic/sales you are missing out on and how you could capture more by spending more.

It is worthwhile having a good relationship with the Euro agents as they can get support issues actioned if you aren’t having much luck with regular support.

But the Indian call centre people are not worth your time. Although they have been known to harass clients and tell them al sorts of nonsense, so I’d maybe not totally ignore them.

You could schedule and cancel a few calls and they’ll probably give up.

I find a good way to get rid of them is to ask them to do something for me – ask them for a report on projected revenue growth for your industry over the next 12 months and you’ll never hear from them again.

They are really great at spending money with zero performance and then when it completely fails recommending to do it again.

If performance is good-to-great, do not touch a thing. There is no reason to change a perfectly functional campaign with solid returns. Leave it alone.

It’s very dependent on the two tbh. Always worth the intro call just to suss out their background

I always answer the first email with “no thanks we’re a PPC agency” and I never hear back from them.

The only good thing about these Google account managers are their walkthroughs on the auto-apply feature. You wanna be very careful on what to turn on for auto-apply though.

For the last 10 years I’ve had so many of them they come and go but most of them are like newbie to Google and I think they just flexing out there skills and most of the time and recommendation that it provides are to spend more and more money on Google and when I catch them out on those say oh yeah you’re right well you wouldn’t want to put the prices up or had too many ad groups or useless keywords the whole point of them is I think slightly useless and I end up being diverted to the help center for specific campaigns such as setting up retargeting when it first came out
