    Duplicating FB ads to Google

Posted by seohelper on March 6, 2020 at 7:26 am

I recently ran an ad on FB with a massive spend and had a 4-5x ROI where I usually get 1.5-2x on what I’d consider a successful campaign. In an attempt to “copy” this from FB to Google display ads, I selected the same things I targeted on FB… a very specific group of topics, app users, etc. I did all the standard common settings and tested it out with a few hundred dollar budget. No sales.

Does google have a lookalike of “past purchasers of this product” or some other targeting methods that I should be adding into the mix? I know the product is a winner and the targeting contains the same people, but something is not working nearly as well.

*edit… Forgot to mention that the FB ad cannot be used on FB anymore as it is too edgy. It really isn’t, but you know how picky FB are these days.

Fb audience network is essentially the same as google display minus all the targeting data. You can do a similar two or custom audience for display targeting using the google ads audience system.

Google’s display network doesn’t work the same way FB Ads does. For 95%+ of cases, you should consider anything you run on GDN (other than remarketing) won’t convert, it’s for branding and influencing decision making.

The only time you can make it work is if you already have a warmed-up audience, i.e. strong brand awareness.

    Try custom affinity audiences?
