  • Drop in Instagram Engagement: Your experiences?

My street photography account on Instagram, which has been steadily growing, has recently seen a significant drop in engagement. This includes likes, reach, and even views on my reels. I’m curious to know if others here, especially those with smaller accounts, are experiencing the same.

Do you think user behaviour on Instagram is changing? If Instagram is on the decline, what’s our next platform?

My opinion is that it’s likely that all social networks grow / change / decline over time. Remember Myspace? My way of coping is to have a presence on several networks and don’t get too committed to one of them.

This is a common issue, so there’s no need to feel embarrassed. Instagram is still widely used, so you might want to focus on creating unique content and attracting new followers. You could consider using features like locations, reels, and even creating tutorials. If you’re looking for a more direct approach, you might want to consider a marketing agency like Ascendviral. They’ve had great success in helping users grow their followers.

Engagement for me has doubled in the last 90 days. ????‍♂️
Literally up 200% and getting 50+ followers per day. (20k followers, engagement at 9%)

    What I’ve noticed is
Location matters. Less engagement in Malaysia, more in Vietnam and even more in Japan. (my IG is about full time travel)

    2. Posting daily helped incredibly

    3. Posting about 5 stories a day helped

    4. Liking content with similar hashtags or same location

    Hope that helps

No, that’s just Instagram’s algorithm for you. One moment the faucet the is on, the next it is turned off. Mainly to get you addicted and then spend money on advertising. My Reels used to get 3-6K views, now like 500-1000. Just what they do. TikTok is a little more friendly when it comes to steady views if you spend time on the platform engaging with people and consistently post content. Your time on the platform I feel pays off more down the road, and your account will grow much quicker.

If you’re a smaller account, & you’re not ponying up, IG’s choking the life out of you at all times. They did start to squeeze harder over the past couple of months.

I find it amazing that on the “dead” platform FlickR photographers often get 100-200 likes with no boosting and all that Instagram bs… and yet here we are trying to continuously make Instagram work.

The issue of FlickR of course it’s that it is sort if a dead platform. But if a dead platform outperforms Instagram ….
