  • Do I start a new Bookstagram and Booktube in another language?

Hi! I started a bookstagram account at the end of last year. It's in my first language (Spanish), I mainly post book reviews and the aesthetic is very different from other accounts. I started it for a school project so I had to follow very strict guidelines but now that it's over I'm free to do whatever I want with the account. I'm stuck with 50 followers, most people I know irl. Every comment is from people I know or people my relatives know. I usually don't get more than 10 likes. It's very frustrating because I put a lot of effort into every review, but not even when I was posting consistently was I getting anywhere.

I know I shouldn't focus on numbers but it feels like the hard work isn't rewarded at all and I'm pretty sure no one reads the reviews I post. So, I've thought about a couple of options:

    1. Change the image of the account so it looks like a more standard bookstagram account. Now that I'm free to do whatever I want in the account I could archive all the posts and reupload the reviews in a more standard format, so it fits more with the bookstagram aesthetic.
    2. Change the image AND the language of the account. I've been thinking of creating a new account and posting some of my reviews in English to see if that'll reach more people. The people that follow me on my account are mostly Spanish speakers so I feel like it would be weird to change the language all of a sudden. This idea comes from the fact that no matter how hard I try I can't find more popular bookstagram accounts in Spanish with tastes similar to mine, so the people from the niche I follow I can barely interact with since we don't read the same books. There's a romance majority and I don't usually read the most popular romance books. I think it's easier to find people with similar tastes to mine on the English-speaking side of bookstagram, but I live in a Spanish-speaking country. I feel that if my content grows I will lose many opportunities in my more immediate community due to language and that I will get fewer opportunities. I would also change the language of my booktube but that wouldn't be an issue since I've posted two videos and in one of them two of the comments were in English and one in Spanish (from someone learning Spanish), being that my content is in Spanish.

    Thank you for your advice!
