GuestApril 8, 2023 at 9:10 pmContrary to what you will hear… Yes they do, and here’s why. when you’re linkbuilding and want to do it right, ie, not using spammy anchor text. Your domain name is your brand, anchor text link and keyword all in one.
If your question is whether a com has preferential ranking factor, no.
If you’re starting a new business, should you go for the best com you can afford? Yes.
How often do you see crappy bs domain extensions ranking in the top of serps? Hardly ever. But I don’t think it’s actually because the domain itself sucks, it’s mostly because serious businesses wouldn’t waste their time promoting them. They’re usually relegated to garbage spam sites and amateurs that don’t know what they’re doing.

GuestApril 9, 2023 at 12:45 amThis is a good question. Some will say that the tld doesn’t matter, some will say that it does matter.
I actually tested this, using the top most popular tlds, including .co and some ccTLDs.
I used SEO testing software to make sure everything was set up properly and every tld in the test had the same opportunity to rank well. Some tlds were crawled very fast, such as the xyz domain. Others took days to get all pages crawled and indexed. After 8 months, the dot net ranked the best.
If you search for “Hartzer tld test” you’ll see the results, a video I did, and a SEJ article with results as well.

GuestApril 9, 2023 at 7:24 amI didn’t think it mattered until I visited my new project and the domain was blocked, due to being neither .com or local.
