Did the “Google Tag” replace “Google Ads Tag” (a newbie here)

Posted by pumper911 on August 20, 2024 at 12:27 pm

Looking to track site conversions for a YouTube campaign and haven’t done so in ages on YouTube.

I see in audience manager -> your data sources -> google ads tags (where I used to grab it from) the tags in the tag setup section are greyed out and I can’t copy and paste the Google Tag or Event Snippet.

However I noticed in Data Manager there is a Google Tag that looks similar to the tag in the other section that seems to automatically track events? I basically use this now and not the previous one I mentioned?

Yes, it even says so in the data sources tab you were looking at 🙂

Their goal is to unify the tag across all Google platforms so you can send data to all Google products with a single tag.

You can set up the Google Tag from the audience manager or copy the tag from your conversion actions.
