  • Declining Sales Despite Steady Traffic and No Issues

    Hi, fellow SEO experts,
We are facing a sales drop this month. Last month (April), we exceeded our target, but we didn't achieve half of the target this month (May). However, our site has the usual number of visitors. Our site and our product have no issues. Also, we didn't do any promotional activities; we are only getting sales and traffic through organic marketing and social media marketing.
Could someone please share their thoughts on my situation?

Maybe your competitors lowered their prices.

    This needs more info:

    – Is your product seasonal?

    – Traffic remains the same, but are you attracting the right target audience? For instance, if you sell break dance courses and most of your visitors are babyboomers, you’re probably not going to sell much.

    – How easy is the buying process for your visitor? Does he get from the ‘buy now’ button to leaving his payment details as quickly as possible?

    – Is it easy to find the ‘buy’ buttons on your landingpages?

    – Have you analysed and optimized your CTA’s? (call to actions)

    – Try to research *why* visitors aren’t buying your product. There are tools which let you quickly and easily conduct a survey among your visitors. Hotjar of Typeform for instance. I worked for a webshop where we found with the help of Hotjar that many visitors thought the shipping costs too high.

    – What is your competition doing? How are their landingspages built, how is their UX? How are their prices compared to yours. How does their content compare to yours?

    Depends what you selling.

We usually get dips in sales this time of year, in fact this is usually out lowest months

Check Google trends for your product searches over last 5 years or so, and see if there’s any common seasonality trends

There can be a lot of reasons, an audit is needed. It varies from biz to biz but this month was the best for one of the sites I work on, almost 7x more sales than the previous month.
