Daily budgets – Does Google always calculate a monthly spend based on the daily spend?

Posted by seohelper on April 21, 2020 at 7:11 pm

Let’s say you have $1000, to spend in the next 10 days.

If you were to set the daily budget to $100, my worry is that Google may assume that you’re looking to spend $3000/month, and overspend dramatically during those 10 days.

Google does state in support articles that they use the daily budget to calculate daily overspending, in order to reach your monthly budget. But how would that work if you’re only looking to spend exactly $1000, in the next 10 days?

In that scenario, set either a total spend budget or use automated rules to prevent overspend.

It’ll max out at double. If your average daily budget is £10, up to £20 can be used to show your ads on certain days based on fluctuations in traffic.

    Unless you’re optimising for conversions.

Personally I think Google should just fix this BS . People don’t expect or want an extra 20% or double spend on any given day.
