CPC very high over the past week

Posted by AdsbyJosh on April 8, 2023 at 5:19 pm

I’ve set up dozens of campaigns for the same type of service business and we always have great success. Lately, new accounts have been struggling to get conversions, with a very high CPC. Most of our campaigns convert between 30% and 40%. Some of our newer campaigns are getting 20+ clicks and no leads in the first week.

Is anyone else experiencing dramatic change over the past week or so?

It’s getting to the point where CPC is just too high for some niches/markets.

We used to get clicks for $6-$7 in 2021. Now, it’s not uncommon to be paying $20-$30 for clicks. It seems as if lowering my bids just leads to no impressions.

I’ve never cared for Quality Score Metrics.

I’ve run identical campaigns, side by side. Ad copy, landing pages, identical. Same CTR. One campaign will have 10/10 QS, the other will have a 3/10 for the same keyword. I don’t buy it. I think it’s a made up metric that they use to charge us more.

There may be something to the theory of account level quality score.

Google is sticking it to advertisers because they can; they’re a monopoly. BTW, when did become “legal” to charge 2x max CPC?

I’m getting the same problem! Paying 20-30 per click! And most of the click are fraud…. Something is not right. I say follow the money…

Have seen issues like this in my account as well. CPC doubled over the course of a month.
