Conversions dropped from 25 on average every day this month down to 3 yesterday

    This is for Google Ads.

I did something stupid and doubled my budget on my tCPA campaigns a couple days ago and decided I’d rather allocate that extra budget elsewhere so I decreased the budget back down to original number yesterday. I haven’t messed around with automated bid strategies too much, is this no-man’s land when it comes to tCPA campaigns? I got above 20 conversions a day for the entire month of May and yesterday was 3. I assume it’ll bounce back up but wondering why this would happen.

Just a theory that doubling the budget probably threw the optimization algorithm off and it would probably take the algo time to ‘relearn’? Historical CPAs is a key component of the algo and I guess because you had a few CVRs at the higher tCPA the other day which now your original budget is unable to hit, so the algo probably just needs time to readjust for that.

To much budget to fast is not a good thing on some if not all ad platforms. Depending on how much doubling your budget was, could be the issue.

CPA is an effect of budget over time. So big swings in budget or bid with CPA bidding in a really short time frame can glitch the matrix. 🙂
