    Conversion discrepancy

Posted by FlorinCaroli on September 6, 2023 at 10:20 am

    Hello,

I have a client in Google Ads.

The account has imported conversions from GA4 with data driven attribution. It doesn’t use server side tagging.

Why I see more conversions in Google Ads than in GA4? For instance, there are 160 conversions in GA4 and 200 in Google Ads.

    Thank you!

The discrepancy is completely normal as GA4 is omnichannel and considers other platforms for a user’s journey towards a conversion goal, whilst Google Ads native tracking focuses on the user journey within the scope of just the Google Ads platform.

Also, the nature of importing the conversions from one platform to another tends to lose some data.

It’s always good to have access to both though when analysing data holistically. Normally you use the Google Ads conversion as Primary and have the GA4 import as a Secondary (observational).

Recommended to have Google ads tracking rather than GA4 for better monitoring and analyzing
