Hello, I’m an aspiring content creator that has multiple interests. I love art, especially digital art and painting, fighting games, and anime reactions. I’ve been told focusing on multiple genres may not be the best way to grow as a content creator. I was was wondering what’s you guy’s opinion is and what can I do to grow as someone with multiple interests

There are plenty of examples of successful creators who started in a niche or with a wide variety of things. It seems maybe niche content is better to establish an initial community but I think all that really matters is you create genuinely entertaining content consistently. The market is not so saturated that good stuff goes unnoticed forever.

Several social media accounts will work best, each based around its own niche, and then you can have a few umbrella accounts that are more about you and all the work you’re doing. Tiktok, X, Instagram will be more about niche accounts. Linkedin, Facebook will be more about you and anything you get into. Soon social media sites and times will change so be ready to adjust.

When it comes to posting on social media platforms, no matter which one, consistency is a key. You can play around with themed days like “painting Wednesdays”, “gaming Fridays”, etc. You would have that expectation variation effect and at the same time your audience could get used to specific days & themes around them. Plus, it would be easier to draw conclusions from analytics and see what is working & what is not. If creating content around multiple interest would became overwhelming, you could easily drop something.

It’s true, the common wisdom for creators is to grow and excel in one area rather than trying to spread out. However, plenty of creators explore a few different types of videos… once they find their audience.

Something I’d recommend while you’re figuring out your niche is to create content on a few different channels, one for each interest. If you find an audience with one, you can focus on that for a time, and then start to integrate your other interests into your most successful channel.
