Contact page visits as conversion?
Hi all.
A client I have gets a lot of work and business from phone calls and I am unsure of the best way to track whether someone actually contacted or not. Embedded contact forms are no problem as we’re tracking those, but we have no way of knowing whether someone rang the phone number.
I’m aware of services that obfuscate the real number with a different one, and then simply tracking how many people rang the different phone number – but the client hates this, as they want their phone number on their website, not a random one.
So instead I simply created a goal/conversion as “Visited Contact Page”, but truthfully I have no way of knowing if they did indeed contact or not.
My questions for the community is:
* how are you tracking phone calls / contacts for your clients that AREN’T via a form?
* what are the negative implications of having a goal/conversion as a page visit?Thanks!
