  • Considering buying an Instagram page with 28.9k followers, is it worth it?

I currently run a Consulting page on Instagram with 18k followers, but the engagement is abysmal due to my mistake of purchasing followers. I get around 50-70 views per story/post.

I’m considering buying an Instagram page with 28.9k organic followers. The audience is largely comprised of high schoolers and college students, which is the demographic I’m targeting. I’ve managed to sell my product to a handful of active followers on my current page, so I believe this page could boost my sales.

However, the page is rather pricey, and it would be a significant financial hit if it didn’t work out. I’m not well-versed in social media marketing, so I could use some advice. Should I go for it?

Well that’s up to you for the risk then isn’t it? Either you can jump in and hold yourself to the fire with an expensive tool or practice more and get experience with something perhaps less effective.

Social media followings don’t convert as well as everyone thinks. Expect mayybe 0.1% to convert, maybe even less if the audience isn’t that loyal to the account or have a personal connection to you..

I’d focus more on regular engagement than followers. A million followers won’t make your product sell if only 30 are actually engaging with your content to begin with.

Instead, try A/B testing content. Experiment and pay attention to what catches eyeballs and what sells. There are different marketing goals, so the learnings will likely help you even if you don’t hit your desired mark.

Your post will only be shown to 3% of that audience. It’s not like if you post your product everyone will see it. I would just run an ad and create that audience to see if they will buy.

You’re in a tricky situation. Buying an Instagram page with a ready-made follower base could potentially fast-track your business growth. However, it’s crucial to consider the quality of those followers and their engagement rate.

Remember, these followers didn’t originally follow you, they followed the previous page owner. Therefore, they may not engage with your content or be interested in your product.

Have you thought about investing that money into growing your current page organically?

Services like ascend viral can help you gain genuine, engaged followers which could lead to better sales and engagement.

Keep in mind, changing the Instagram page’s theme and name often results in a significant decrease in engagement. It’s a tough call to make.

Social media is really about community not conversions. I would honestly put the money into making engaging content, maybe some ads, and then working on email marketing.
