Cloaking or 302 to hide original referrer from merchant?
So I stupidly put in a lot of work building pages to promote a product before I had been accepted into the merchant’s program. And I was rejected 🙁 – didn’t think it would happen as I have a really good website with lots of traffic, but it turns out they thought the website topic wasn’t a good fit for their brand (I disagree).
So what I was thinking of doing was to build a separate “decoy” website, and reapply to the program after some time, giving them this website instead (which they should approve, because I’ll build it with their brand in mind). Then I would point the product links on my main website to the decoy website, which would then link to the product.
Questions: Do I need a cloaking plugin, or would a simple 302 redirect work as well? Or a 301? Would this mean that the merchant only sees the decoy page? I’m not sure how much info merchants get in their analytics, so any info is helpful!
