Debating whether to change the slug on a page that ranks extremely poorly. There are only two backlinks pointing to it and URL does not contain any relevant competitive keywords. I can’t see any reason not to, of course I need to change any internal links etc.

Yes, you can check the URL slug. However, do not forget to apply 301 redirection to your old URL.

Changing a slug is like making a big decision. It’s good to give it a bit of thought – weigh the pros and cons. Will it make your page more relevant? Will it attract more visitors to your site ? If the answers are leaning toward “yes,” then you’re on the right track.

Don’t change the url. Just don’t do it.
There’s a lot of worse things that can and will happen if you change the url versus not changing it.

Any minuscule benefit you light receive from having a keyword in the url will be wiped out by changing the url.
