I've read a few times not to run same SKUS in 2 different caimpaigns… what happens if you do?

Also depends on how the asset groups are organised. If everything is identical… why?

I guess running a regular pmax and a remarketing would do it

No. If you’re using the same feed, both campaign will canibalise themselves.

The main conversion comes from the shopping part.

If you wanna A/B test, make a custom segment for Male & Female, but even then, you can’t really control that X ad will be shown only to a certain gender.

Ad rank will just decide what gets shown if you have two SKUs across two different campaigns.

We’re running a mix of campaigns organized by product category plus specialized campaigns for best sellers, new products, and targeting customer segments. There’s a lot of overlap between those campaigns.

What our Google reps say is there’s no harm in including a product in multiple campaigns – it helps expand your reach (spend more money). But one issue we’re seeing now is one of our specialized campaigns is cannibalizing two of our product categories. That campaign continues to grow while the two product category campaigns become less and less efficient. We’re now testing into the idea of product exclusivity with one of those categories.

It just depends on why/how you split them. Ex: If you want to test one for new customer acquisition alone, and have a rep add negative keywords to it then you can test it that way, mess with audiences, try to target new customers only, etc.

If you want to test different demos you can just make an asset group within the same campaign. Though there would likely be some overlap, if you try some different search themes or audiences you can see different results.
