  • Can you do sponsored posts from a personal Facebook page?

I have a new client that I’m to start doing social media management for this month, and he has asked if we can sponsor/boost posts from his personal page instead. Reason being is that he says he gets better interactions and engagement on his personal page than his Facebook Business one.

As far as I know, you would only be able to sponsor from business pages, especially as it would have a credit card linked to it for ads. I even looked at posts on my own page and I don’t see a boost option. However, he said that his last SMM “was only able to figure it out months later” so there must be some sort of way? I’m not able to speak to who did his SMM last unfortunately.

I’m 99.9% sure this isn’t possible. Regardless post engagement shouldn’t be a goal in itself, it should be leading to something that actually drives the business forward.

Ask to review what was previously done and make recommendations based on previous learnings.

Switch their account to a “content creator” account and they’d be able to do it.

Part of your job is educating your customer, if Facebook catches someone doing business on their personal page they’ll shut it down. l, and in general swimming against the current is asking for unforeseen troubles. I’d go down convincing them that delaying the inevitable is worse than biting the bullet today before working on a personal account.
