  • Can I Repost Other People’s TikTok Videos On My Own TikTok Account?

Posted by seohelper on May 8, 2020 at 5:44 pm

I have a professional TikTok channel that’s growing everyday. That being said:

    – TikTok normally lets you download/save videos to your phone (if users enable this option)

    – As you know, TikTok has the very popular #fyp (for your page) hashtag

Does this mean it’s 100% legal/okay for me to occasionally repost someone else’s TikTok content on my account without even asking them for permission? At least from those users who meet any of the above conditions?

I just wouldn’t want to get my account in trouble. Though of course, maybe some users may still complain to TikTok staff no matter what….

    Thoughts? Thanks a lot!

    Read the ToS.

I know that Tik Tok highly discourages you from reposting content and even posting content edited outside of Tik Tok. They want you to be sharing original content that’s made directly in their app.. So they are more harsh with removing outside content that is reported and also often keep outside content on 0 views for a while while they verify that it’s not spam.

But I’ve never heard of Tik Tok outright banning repost pages. I follow quite a few and they are doing very well.

When it comes to reposting on any social media platform I always make it a habit to ask and assure them that I will credit the original creator. Most creators tend to be pretty chill and will say yes. That would at least solve your user complaining issue for the most part.

As for if it’s legal you would have to check the terms of service.
