Running into a paradox on social media when it comes to keep the company brand on point.

Our posts and content are generally professional, humble and reflective/thoughtful.

But, we have a saleguy who likes to post about his work at the company to get more leads – he just loves LinkedIn. When he posts however, his tone is completely the opposite. Loud & proud style. He’s loves to post about our company 2-3 times a week.

The issue is when I suggest to edit his posts; the new posts don’t sound like him anymore. It’s inauthentic to his own individualism; and I think he’s still entitled to it to some extent. It’s not damaging our brand exactly (like if he posted a slur or something) but they’re just not on brand…

What’s a good balance here? How do you guys handle this type of conflicting representation?

Employees posting on their own profile on something like Linkedin dont normally post in the company voice.

It’s not a conflicting representation at all.

He’s a sales guy, making sales pitches in his sales voice.
Make sure he doesnt disparage the brand, or attack other brands and let him do his thing.

Do either over generate engagement from your audience or convert anyone to become a paying customer? No offense but your personal opinion, view, and questions mean nothing. Your audience should be the priority and barometer here. From your post, I’m thinking neither are getting much traction because if it was, you probably wouldn’t be asking

If it isn’t negatively affecting , I’d just mind my own business

This should be addressed in your social media policy and enforcement is his manager’s job.
