  I guess at some point someone will have to explain what the heck is said functionality.
  And offer solutions to reduce their misuse, without denegating the hard work of most users…

  In all seriousness. What platform are you talking about? Twitter and IG are both using the tick for very similar reasons, and for many that have one, it has less to do with “hard work” than their status IRL
