I have a blog about Thai food (I make and sell hand made Thai sauces) Imagine I write a detailed blog about Thai Green Curry. The only way (in my mind) to get that reader to be a potential buyer is with blunt force trauma in my blog conclusion, Which usually ready something like “If you enjoyed reading this blog about Thai green Curry then BUY MY SAUCE NOW (With a crude link to my product embedded in the aggressive desperation)

So my question is, How should a blog convert a reader into a potential buyer?

Nothing wrong with that. It’s called a call to action.

There’s nothing wrong with promoting your product in the blog, but you need to be realistic about what the conversion rate would be. You could also promote an email newsletter and your social links to stay in touch with first time visitors and build up more of a relationship with potential customers. It’s often useful to measure conversion over a period of days.

One thing you could do, for example, is provide a coupon code when they sign up for an email to encourage building your own mailing list and hope they buy your product. As this is a consumable good I would also look into a subscription model if you haven’t already, eg a monthly sauce and recipe card, or seasonal gift packs eg mother’s day, fathers day.

Hey! Fellow Thai food blogger here, and would love to see your website! Also, do you have affiliate links?

Maybe you already have this but in your top header navigation I might put a link or CTA button such as “shop now” or “browse collection”

This was someone who stumbles upon the blog via the Green Curry page, or other informational page can choose their own journey.

Sometimes I’ll also do a floating sidebar on blog post templates with a relevant offer, maybe you have a first time discount or offer for new buyers – just an idea! 💡
