Bid low or high with manual cpc?

Posted by Fredrik4411 on June 1, 2024 at 2:14 pm

When using manual cpc, should I bid to be at the very top or somewhere in the middle? What is your experience with this? I couldn’t find any YouTube videos on that topic

It depends on the brand, search intent, and performance.

If you are going after “24-hr emergency plumber near me” you probably want to be at the top. That’s a “I need this right now” search.

If you are going after “enterprise CRM software” you might not care to be right at the top, because you know there’s going to be at least 3-4 companies giving quotes/pitches and you just want to be in that top pack somewhere.

That’s how you start to think about it. Then, over time, you can get a sense of where you are actually seeing performance and optimize to that. In many cases it’ll align with what you expect (i.e. I thought we should be top, and it turns out we need to be). But sometimes you’ll see a surprise and have to adjust bids to accommodate.

    depends on the intent really.

My advice is and always will be:

“Treat Manual CPC like a marathon instead of a sprint”

That way you will get lots and lots of data before running out of budget.

Cpc doesn’t matter much, but your CPA does. Have you tried Amazon ads? For your product Google shopping and Amazon is perfect

Avoid manual cpc.. go for CPA And enter a price that you think is viable… If it’s not delivering, increase the value… and from the moment you start delivering you reduce % value, but I understand that you need 15 conversions on Google for any effect and the intelligence to work

So there’s not much you can do, you need to lose some money to buy data and check whether or not this ppc you’re on is profitable or not… it can be anyone, Google ads, meta, Amazon, bing..

Depends, really I use Smart Bidding and keep it at $3 to $4…..it was $2 but the audience was weak and earned empty clicks (inflation, bot farms) . I would prioritize CPA and tROAS.
