  • Best way to structure recipe categories for SEO? General or specific?

    Posted by seohelper on March 9, 2020 at 3:10 am

    If it’s a healthy recipe website would it be best to be more specific with them?

    Example…

    General:

    Cheesecakes, Bars, Bites

    Specifics

    Healthy Cheesecakes, Energy Bars, Power Bites

    Having trouble figuring this one out, any guidance would be awesome. Maybe I’m overthinking! Thank you

    Gotta look up search volume and competition to make these types of decisions. It’s generally easier to rank for more descriptive/granular queries but they may not have worthwhile volume.

    Just make sure it’s hierarchical so it makes sense to both Google and humans. But you’ll also want to make sure where you stand in terms of ranking/traffic volume with these keywords.

    So you could do something like:

    * Sweets/Desserts (or whatever top-level title works for cheesecakes/bars/bites).
    * Cheesecakes
    * Bars
    * Energy Bars
    * Bites
    * Power Bites

    But ALSO – be sure to add some recipe schema to those recipes so you can potentially get in on that SERP action!
