Best strategy for a tight budget?

Posted by valerie__lynn on July 3, 2024 at 3:03 pm

Our company was recently given a TIGHT Google Ads budget of $200/month, so we’re trying to figure out the best strategy. We’re a powersports company and sell many units such as mowers, ATVs, PWC, pontoon boats, tractors, dirt bikes, side by sides, UTVs, and more.

Our search ads usually take users to the website but we also add the call button on the ad.

Should we run a generic search ad with ad groups based on the type of unit (ex: one ad group for ATV, one for mower, one for basic “powersports dealer” searches, etc) or will these be difficult with a $200/month budget? As in, with there being so many ad groups, there will be barely any clicks and impressions for each?

OR should we run specific search ads every 2-3 months for a single type of unit (ex: ad groups/ads for only mowers)?

I’m still new to Google Ads so I’d appreciate any advice I can get! Thank you.

You should not even try to run paid ads with that budget. $7/day is not going to get you anywhere based on what you sell.

Honestly I would start a local Instagram page and make regular posts and boost them with that budget. Get some traction and online presence going nothing more.

Spend it on something useful like a gift basket for your best customer. You will sell zero units per month consistently with a $200/month budget.

More budget. $1k minimum or don’t bother. Perhaps run $1k for 3 months in the summer then go dark.

If your boss wants to be serious about PPC to generate leads, have a professional forecast spend and expected leads based on your Industry. Think of PPC like hiring a full time sales person. What would that cost per month?

Just run a performance max campaign with it.

I would keep the campaign super niche – including your location in the search terms. Or create a pmax campaign with dialed audience signals and search signals. I don’t think $200/month is too small, if you make one direct sale from the ads it will pay for itself 🤷🏼‍♀️

    You can try the lottery.

You can do Standard Shopping with a small bid and you might get a hit once yearly.

I’d listen to everyone in the comments. You’ll waste that ad spend and I bet your average CPC for that product is high. You might get one sale a year haha. Try SEO or maybe even paid social.
