Hey! I just set up my first website for our Vintage Store. I really want to learn and understand SEOs and how I can implement it into our listings. How did you learn about SEO and what kind of material should I watch/read to get a better understanding of how it all works. Thanks in advance for the help!

Congrats on the website! SEO can seem tricky at first, but it’s all about making your site easy to find. I started by reading blogs to know about the basics really well. YouTube also has great SEO tutorials that explain keyword research, optimizing listings, and improving site structure. I’d suggest starting there, and just keep practicing—it gets easier as you go! Good luck!

The space is too broad, so you really want to focus on the part of SEO that works the best which is programmatic SEO.

Basically for each category of items in your store, you need to create a topical content cluster with the category page on top – let’s say those are wallets, then below that comes the 2nd variable, which can be about types of wallets – leather, faux, minimalist, for men, for women, for date night, for executives etc. Finally, you should then write 5-10 blog posts that would naturally mention all of those wallet types and link back up to the type landing pages, which then all link up to the category page. And interlink them from top to bottom as well.

And then do that for all categories.

If you want to learn more about product led SEO, check out Eli Schwartz. Or Julian Goldie on YouTube. I am also building a tool that should automate the process above, but it’s still super far from GTM stage, but my idea for your store would be for you to just create an item in the store, and all of the pages would get created and linked by themselves pretty much and you’d have a module which would do proactive outreach to get backlinks (they are probably the most important signal of good content to Google).

More than happy to help you by writing some of these things for you. Just so that you can see how it works. I will just need some kind of an example or even better a link to your store and then I’ll figure out all of this out 😁

congrats on setting up your site! SEO can be a bit of a rabbit hole, but it’s super rewarding once you get the hang of it. When I started, I just dove into a mix of blog posts, YouTube tutorials, and a couple of beginner-friendly courses. Over time, you start seeing patterns and what works best for your niche. Also, if you’re curious about how your site is doing as you start implementing SEO, there are tools like SERPtag that can help you track what keywords you’re ranking for—it’s kind of nice seeing the progress in real-time. Good luck with your store!

Websites like Coursera, Udemy, and Skillshare are great places to start learning about SEO.
