  • Aunt wants me to run her social media accounts, where do I start?

Posted by xbahtisrael on June 19, 2023 at 3:51 am

My aunt is paying me to run her social accounts and emails for her business.

I have no experience doing this and I have no idea where to start researching but her goal is to recruit drivers and offer third-party administration.

Can y’all point me in the right direction? What do I need to research first and what are some other other books or resources you recommend?

    TYIA!

Social media today, the HootSuite Blog, Sprout Social blog and just searching around for social media professionals on LinkedIn who post free content and advice.

Totally get how overwhelming this can feel, buddy! Just take it step by step. Research your audience, figure out the best times to post, and make sure your content resonates with the people you’re trying to attract. By the way, AscendViral is a lifesaver when it comes to Instagram growth. Give it a shot! Also, do you have any specific questions on managing emails? We can share some strategies here too!

Start with your audience: who are they, where are they, how do they communicate online, when are they active

Move on to the branding: align colours, revise the companies ethics/morals/purpose, establish the tone of voice you will be using

Establish a bank of content ideas: search competitors for inspiration, search through Quorra, ask people what they want to see from the brand in the story

Form your strategies: you need ones for content and engagement

Communicate with your target audience: don’t be afraid to drop into DM’s, comment on posts, join trending conversations etc.

This should get you off to a good start, and will help you establish a basic social presence.
If you are feeling overwhelmed to any degree, sit down with your aunt and have a candid conversation about hiring a freelance consultant (some will charge by the hour, I prefer a fixed monthly rate) so that they can give you solid advice and set tasks for you while you learn more about the platforms that you’re using.

Feel free to message me if you need any more!!
