Approved Google ads won’t run, been a week with 0 impressions
Posted by seohelper on April 22, 2020 at 5:11 pmHello there, I’ve just about given up on these Google ads. I’ve run Youtube ads before but for some reason, none of my campaigns are getting impressions. I get approved in hours, but its been over a week now and I’ve gone through 4 campaigns and bumped up my bids and budgets and nothing is working. Their support just says to keep upping everything and wait for the algorithm to re-adjust so I’m guessing they don’t know what’s up either. Never happened to me before. Can anyone help?

GuestApril 22, 2020 at 5:20 pmHave you tried the Ad Preview & Diagnosis tool? It’s under Tools&Settings (top right), then the Planning column, at the bottom. You set your location and enter a keyword and it’ll tell you the status of various matches.
If you’re advertising COVID-related keywords or ads, they may look approved but not actually run.
If your keywords are related to a regulated industry (investments, insurance, healthcare) you can have everything “approved” but they still won’t run. Try going after less-specific keywords to see if those will run. Remove keywords directly related to the regulated industry to see if you can get things going.

GuestApril 22, 2020 at 7:51 pmCan you send a screenshot of your settings?
Also I’ve had a trouble with a client when he used a Capital One virtual card as his payment method. They sometimes won’t give errors if you use any temporary-type cards to avoid abuse.

GuestApril 22, 2020 at 8:23 pmI had this problem too. For some reason it took me like 2 weeks to start getting any impressions, and then another 2 weeks for me to start getting enough impressions to spend my daily budget on. No clue why it took so long.

GuestApril 22, 2020 at 8:25 pmCould be a really poor quality score due to landing page experience and/or ad relevance.
Are you using a manual bidding strategy? Also, what is your search impression share showing?

GuestApril 22, 2020 at 8:28 pmI *have* to ask.
Are you using terms like Corona or COVID in your ad copy?

GuestApril 22, 2020 at 8:59 pmI had this problem with a real estate agent. I used the word “maak” in the ad copy (means making in english) and our Google rep told me the new algoritm for covid sucks and incorrectly flags “maak” for covid because it means “mask” in another language. Could be the problem for you too

GuestApril 22, 2020 at 10:43 pmCheck the status of your ads. Should give you an indication of why they aren’t running. Alternatively, make sure your date range is correct when viewing the ads. Finally, if using audiences, make sure the size isn’t too small.

GuestApril 23, 2020 at 2:15 amI had a very similar situation earlier this year. I was targeting my ads to run on a list of ~15 or so similar audience interest Youtube channels (all cold traffic).
All the support reps kept telling me to increase my budget. After about a week of 0 impressions I just dramatically increased my budget and starting seeing impressions the same day.
It has been a few years since I’ve run YouTube ads, and the last time I launched them the CPMs were a fraction of their current cost. Apparently these ads cost a bit more these days.

GuestApril 23, 2020 at 7:11 amCheck your keywords, If the status is shown as Low search volume, then there may not be any impressions. A screenshot of the keywords screen will help in identifying the problem. Another problem maybe if you are using Remarketing Audience. (If the audience size is too small, then there may be no impressions seen)

GuestApril 23, 2020 at 9:49 amThank you for the help but still 0 impressions.
I’ve now gone through 6 or 7 campaigns with different settings, including several attempts with Any keywords, any locations, any everything and still nothing. I even tried it on a new account completely and still nothing.
No covid related, farthest from it. Not even remotely related to regulated industries.
I’ve prepaid above my budget as I used to do before.

GuestApril 23, 2020 at 10:51 amThat happened with one of my client, trust me the support team of Google is of practically no use. They will never help you with strategy or why you are not getting the impression. Can you share the screenshot with me?
