Anyone use an ipad?
Posted by Nudistmoodist on July 25, 2024 at 6:32 pmHi everyone! đź‘‹
I’ve been sharing my MacBook with my partner for the past four years, but now we both need it daily. My partner is starting med school and wants an iPad for note-taking. Meanwhile, I’ve just started a job where I’ll be using Canva, Slack, and social media planners.
Questions:
- iPad for Social Media? Does anyone currently use an iPad as their main device for social media management?
- iPad Model? Which iPad size and model would be ideal for our needs?
Thanks in advance for your input! 🙌

GuestJuly 25, 2024 at 7:26 pmI don’t use it for social media but I have have the smaller pro for school and its helpful for taking notes and I can put the keyboard attachment when I wanna do a little bit of work outside. However to use as a main device for school people usually get the bigger pro with the keyboard attachment.

GuestJuly 25, 2024 at 8:15 pmI don’t use my iPad for social media, but it would certainly be useful for that. I have used at various times throughout the years: iPad Pro 12.9 inch with Magic Keyboard, iPad Pro 11 inch with Magic Keyboard, iPad Air, iPad mini, and the regular iPad (I think it was 8th generation).
I am currently using the iPad Pro 11 inch, but if I were going to buy one today, I would go with the iPad Air with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. That would be my recommendation: Unless you need the extra power of the Pro, I would go with the Air. My next iPad will be the Air.
I will say that my all-time favorite was an iPad Mini that I used to have, but my eyes have gotten bad, and I need a bigger screen now.
Most models can use the same apps, so pick the one that fits your budget and feels the best in your hands.
I’ll add that for me and the way I use my devices, the Magic Keyboard and Apple pencil were very much worth it.

GuestJuly 25, 2024 at 8:55 pmFor me it has been more useful having a Macbook, because it is more complete, you can do your illustrations on Photoshop, however if you still want to get an iPad I would recommend the iPad Pro 11-inch or 12.9-inch if you want it bigger, becuase you can multitask, it has great responsiveness and great high quality graphics for photos and videos

GuestJuly 26, 2024 at 12:18 amI can’t stand using mobile for social media management, but I know some folks that do. I do use mine for note taking, reading reports and managing my task list on the go.

GuestJuly 26, 2024 at 2:01 amI have the m2 iPad Pro 12.9 inch and iPad Pro m4 13 inch as well. Both iPads are great for surfing the web, note-taking, social media etc. I use my iPads for everything. I had the 11 inch model before and it’s portable but I have the bigger model now and I love it.

GuestJuly 26, 2024 at 10:56 amI just graduated from dental school and our school gave us 11” iPad pros. I loved it and still use it. I bought a keyboard attachment and a screen protector that makes it feel matte, kinda more like paper than glass. Awesome for note taking.
They gave the following class the bigger ones and they’re nice, would recommend the bigger one for the space for multitasking.
I will say the keyboard on the 11” isn’t ideal if you’re doing a lot of typing. I found myself using my laptop for all my research papers or creating presentations. I don’t use my iPad for social media. -

GuestJuly 26, 2024 at 11:27 amI prefer a laptop over iPad. You can do a lot more on a laptop and some websites are still not fully usable on an iPad. An iPad can be helpful for taking notes, you can use the touchscreen for designing stuff and you can sync stuff with other apple products. I use apps like Illustrator and Canva on my laptop because the shortcuts on a laptop save a lot of time and it works smoother in my opinion. You can also use a laptop for more stuff so I think the price/quality is way better than for an iPad. Just figure out what your needs are right now but also in the future.
Some tips for study is to scan the notes from your teachers and copy paste it into your documents. If you like to organise everything I would recommend to use the app Notion. You can completely customize it, there are a lot of useful templates and it is free.

GuestJuly 26, 2024 at 5:02 pmIf you are doing META moderation or anything with Canva, I much prefer a rig vs pad.
I had issues with scheduling out of Canva for some reason. Not sure if that issue is resolved. It was about 6mo ago.
