To anybody making over $10k/month from their SEO business and doesn't mind sharing, how did you do it and how long did it take to scale from a few grand a month up to 10k+?

I make around 54K/month in a two man team.
You have to be confident enough to offer guaranteed results directly tied to revenue increases. That means only working with companies that you know you can help.
Every nerd here will say elsewise and get triggered about “guarantees are a scammmmm”. Reality is, you will never make it if you don’t produce real results and no one wants to work with someone who isn’t even sure that they can drive performance.
It’s always going to be:
Work with the guy who thinks seo can help
Vs
The guy that knows SEO will help
Don’t fall for the trap of self doubt when you know for a fact that you can increase revenue with seo
