  • Any internal linking strategies with a local city page?

Posted by 3CAPPY on March 29, 2023 at 6:31 pm

I have a small biz that operates in a 7 mile range. We have informative pages for our 3 general services that link silo and then a separate dropdown pages for our general service in each city around us. Should these city pages internally link where relevant? Our (local!) competitors rank nationally and have very poor structure (extremely few internal links)

Any tips or tricks for a layout like this? The local service business that ranks incredibly well is called mr mister mosquito incase anyone is curious to see.

Is your homepage optimized for your primary city?

Would you consider each city around you “sub cities”?

If the surrounding cities aren’t as populated or competitive: I like to use the city page as a general landing page and write about all the services we offer in that city. You can just link to “service pages” from your city page for each “type of service”.

Then you can internally link those service pages to each city page.

It really depends on your primary city and how important the other cities are.

For instance: If your primary city is 100k population and your sub cities are like 10k or more 20k. That will work just fine.

If the other cities are competitive, it might be worth the additional time and effort to create /city/service-type pages for each location.
