All of my site’s traffic showing sharply dropped today in Google analytics? Is it the 2020 algo update effect or something happened strangely?

The guys at Google are up to something. We also experienced a sudden drop. Don’t worry about that.

A massive drop for me too. All comprehensive, quality content, best SEO practices. No artificial link building. Thank you Google for rewarding me like that!

Seems like what you are advising us to do is a bullshit.

Same here. One of my sites has had consistent traffic over the last 4-5 months, now this morning, checked analytics and down about 75-80%.

Never used any shady SEO tactics and all content is completely original and over 1000+ words per article, spent sooo much time on it over the past year.

Guess we’ll have to see where this goes.

I tend tu find this happens on roll out, keep up the good work, it will regain. Look at your sector’s not just your individual site so you can see the larger picture

Yesterday vs same day last week we saw -6% (-8% mobile) on one site and -19% (-23% mobile) on another. But last week vs last year was up 40% and up 14% respectively. In all data the swings are more exaggerated on mobile than desktop or tablet. If everybody’s traffic is down, who’s getting the clicks that we’re losing? 😀

Yes there is a new core update of May 2020 rolled out just 2 days before. But it will take a week for the update to roll out completely.

Seeing drops across my sites as well. Anywhere from 5-10% drops up to one of my sites losing 80%+. None of my sites seem to be benefiting from this recent update.

Core updates can take 2 weeks to fully roll out. Don’t make any hasty changes to your site, keep doing what you’re doing and reevaluate in 2,5 weeks time.

Google did announce that a **new core update** started rolling out on **May 4th 2020**.

I also noticed a traffic drop and many of my links in SERPS are acting weird (meta description changed, Schema Markup not showing up properly, etc). It sure make you worry and wonder but it usually takes Google a while to place everything when they come out with new updates (core or other).

So, give it time and keep doing good work!

I have just started my blog exactly a month ago with 12 posts . Daily visitor ranged between 4 and 0 until today and it spiked to 50. I find it a bit strange because I know it will take several months to get some traction . I wonder if the new algo has anything to do with it .

I believe it has something to do with age of domain. Reply to this comment if your website is under 2 years old and had a big drop in the SERPs
