    Amazon Question: Too many keywords in Broad match campaign?

    Posted by seohelper on April 21, 2020 at 10:42 pm

    **CONTEXT**

    I re-structured my campaigns a few times over the course of the last 2 months based on both advise and my own experience. The ppc structure for one of my products looks like this:

    **Stage 1: Discovery**

    * Auto
    * Manual-Category

    Stage 2: Performance

    * Manual-Broad
    * Manual-Exact
    * Manual-Products

    The funnel looks like this:

    Keywords that perform well on Stage 1 are passed down to Stage 2 and keywords that don’t perform well are added as negative keywords.

    **QUESTION**

    Do I run into trouble for squeezing too many similar keywords into a broad match type campaign? Example of keywords in this campaign:

    * compostable straws
    * plastic straws
    * disposable straws

    etc. You got me.

    What I’m afraid is that the possible different search terms coming from the different broad keywords are too many. I have 19 keywords now. However, I know that for every keyword the system tries many search terms. Is this some kind of problem I should care about now or when my list grows longer? Or that shouldn’t be something to worry about.

    Thanks for reading.

    Ideally, you should not keep more than 25 keywords in a campaign or ad set. So you can manage keywords into the subgroups under the campaign.

    While you manage in this way you can also bid low and play around placements where you can go up to 900% of the bid and giving authority to Amazon to increase bid when its system thinks it you will get a sale.
