wow I'm really getting sick of ahrefs. I've been doing SEO for 8 years and have seen them charge more and more every year while moving basic features to higher tiered packages.

Now this month they just did a 29% price increase on their lite plan.

I think I'm going to look elsewhere now.

Wow. Majestic + Linxact ftw for backlink analysis. Else SEMrush.

Lol, they’re probably expecting a lot of cancellations due to G updates

Wow! That’s a very steep increase. At $99 it was line ball, but $129 for the lite version is a rip off.

But I have to say that Ahrefs and Semrush, while being the industry go-to’s, are really a bit if a con.

Most of the data is estimates and not that reliable. Yes, you can spy on your competitors, but I can get decent info on this with free apps.

I cancelled my Semrush subscription a couple of years a ago, and don’t miss it that much.

For your average blogger, $129 a month is simply not viable now that traffic and incomes are falling away so quickly.

And Ahrefs certainly won’t help reverse that trend.

I just checked, and Semrush is also now $129 per month. So much for competition!

    Peas in a pod.

Seems ahrefs is playing the old nickel dime game with us, time to find new tool that won,t break our bank.

I try to work only with free SEO tools, otherwise they cost a fortune. I’ve placed big clients on big competitive keywords in my country without ever paying Semrush or Ahrefs… The ahrefs backlink checker is free, and some tools in the ahrefs Webmaster tool are free too (if you check site ownership).

Honestly, a good SEO with the google search console and a few free tools (and experience, above all) can work without these paid tools. I mean it.

Probably related to losing a shit ton of subs recently after google ended blogging.

    TBH ScreamingFrog is badass.

Never really appreciated them so much, but as Ahrefs, SEMrush restrict features they were offering freely before/increase the price – I’m becoming a bit of a fanboy, and it only took 10+ years of use.

    Might buy some merch…

I truly feel like the Ahrefs product has lost its competitive edge years ago. There’s so many other tools out there with better UI, more exhaustive data, and more useful dashboards. They’re going to price themselves out of the market.

I buy semrush just for myself, but the price is too high for me, I’m a solo website owner, just at the beginning stage…

    I’m still paying a thousand a month.

I recommend just doing a month and binge use it, then cancel. Go 6 months till you used up all that research and rinse and repeat. Though how things are lately, I feel like these tools are becoming obsolete- at least for my sites anyway.

They can kick rocks with their inaccurate estimates tbh. I dumped them years ago and never looked back

They’re doing it because people are still paying no matter what. After the horrible changes to their pricing structure they’ve seen that it didn’t stop people from overpaying for their product, so they’re going to increase their prices until they stop seeing growth.

People need to stop paying for their tool to make a point.
Personally I stopped using them a long time ago. They are such a shady company.
