After how many impressions do you turn bad variants off?

Posted by ShiftPerspective101 on August 2, 2024 at 10:09 pm

Aa an example I have 10 variants in a meta advantage plus shopping campaign ad set. A few aren't doing very well. After how many impressions would you turn them off? Thinking somewhere between 2 and 4k?

I use an A/B test calculator to understand the statistical significance of two ads competing against eachother on the same audience. So the number isn’t exactly absolute.

Impressions don’t tell you very much.

So much this. Just worry about actually activity. Clicks on your site, add to cart, etc. most of the rest are vanity metrics that don’t drive revenue.

You should look at other leading engagement indicators as well – are people clicking through at a decent amount, are they spending time on your page? You can use UTMs at a campaign level, but not at an ad level to measure on-site engagement.

Are these products that have sold well on meta without doing a shopping campaign? What products are they, and what kind of marketing/success have you had in the past? Is your conversion tracking setup properly?

In my pov, clients prioritize sales over any other metrics. While impressions and CTR are important metrics, the ultimate goal is conversions. I focus on key performance indicators like CTR, click-to-landing-page ratio, and landing-page-to-add-to-cart and purchase ratios. These metrics provide a more comprehensive view of performance and are more critical than impressions alone. Again it’s my personal opinion 😊
