    Hi All,

Marketeer here! A client where we do paid and organic Instagram marketing for has bought 2500 fake likes on a post and about 10K fake followers. First reel went out today and got almost zero interaction. It's by no means a big account but the difference in reach and engagement is huge. What is the best way to go at this or has anyone experience with this? Is this account now doomed into the lowest level of the holy algorithm for life? Or if we keep making good engaging organic content we can work our way out of the slums?

Would love to hear your experiences on this!

personally i had a somewhat simillar situation, but i bought around 1k followers, what i did is delete the followers that were obvious bots (zero followers and posts, etc) and double down on video content, more videos, same idea with 2 or more versions of the same video with small changes.

about 3 weeks in we got mixed results with some reels heavily penalized but others got some traction. Our reels get around 25k views in average (we are small yes) but with some work there might be hope. This is my personal experience i am no expert but, hope it helps somehow.

I’d block the fake accounts. So they couldn’t see any future posts. If your followers aren’t engaging why will the algorithm put you in front of anyone else? Also organic without some paid sucks and rarely gets anywhere. Jump starting each post by showing it to everyone who has engaged with you before does amazing things.

Similar to blocking spam links for SEO, I’d go through and disconnect from bots. I even didn’t this on LinkedIn, from the surge of UPwork people that connected with me…. they were a dead audience killing engagement.

I would start a second account, begin to build it up to transition. With Insta algorithms these days, you have a shot to gain quick growth, but typically clients don’t have the budget to do it right.

You are certainly in a pickle, there is always at least one per client, but guarantee it won’t be your last
