Hey guys, I am currently on-boarding a client who has 2 websites – let me explain:

He owns a company that produces building materials.
Website #1 is representing the brand of his materials and aims at resellers like hardware stores.
It does currently not have any shopping functions.

Website #2 is an online shop for building materials, where he is basically reselling his own stuff (really no other brands).
The revenue generated here is essential to his business.
The target group here is mostly consumers.

It is quite difficult to rank both pages without cannibalising the other, because they are talking about the same products.

Website #2 has better Rankings already, than website #1, but website #1 is representing his brand, which is very important.

How would you go about this?
Has anyone ever had a similar situation?
    I would appreciate any advice!

Put them together in one site. Shopify and BigCommerce both have options where you can create B2C and B2B sites. The B2C is front facing and markets the products and retailers can apply to buy at wholesale via a link on the B2C which then grants them access upon approval to the B2B via login credentials. You can have separate pricing, shipping, policies, everything. And the consumer never has access to the B2B side.

Question, how large are the purchases for the B2B brand? Typically in B2B large purchases are done through an account manager first. Then once they are set up they go through a portal that is provided by the Vendor and order directly.

Is the goal for the B2B site to increase branding awareness to get them to take a meeting or to order directly from the website?
