GuestOctober 15, 2024 at 2:04 amI totally get that! Unfortunately as a tattoo artist, I have to have social media to get new clients and show people my work to compete with every other tattoo artist. One way I take control in a situation where I dont feel I have a lot of choice is to align my content with my values and therefore become passionate about making content. For example, I am only creating posts at the moment as I dont really like filming (its time consuming and I just dont enjoy it). The posts that i create are like scrapbook/diary entries which not only appeal to my creative side, feel wayyy more authentic to me but also align with my values of ‘slow’ content. Another way is I dont spend too much energy on it – I started off trying to post every couple of days, but that requires quite a bit of mental effort. Now, I sit down once a week for about an hour and schedule my posts for the week (using the meta business suite) which means I dont have to think about it every day, which makes me feel less connected to my phone which aligns with my values.
I personally consume food content in vlog style which I very much enjoy and I feel is one part of content that actually positively influences my life. If youre passionate about making videos and video editing, I could suggest maybe switching to youtube? I find that content on youtube is a lot slower (other than youtube shorts), and you could still create short form videos from clips of longer videos and post on instagram/tiktok/youtube shorts. people who find value in your shorter clips might be interested in watching longer content on youtube. Optimising content in this way could also help you be away from your phone more – more time making content, less time posting. I hope Ive interpreted your question correctly!!
