I’ll agree with you that Google Ads can be frustrating. Most business people, especially small business, are not marketers and don’t fully, or even partially, understand marketing. That is a ripe environment for advertisers to waste money. Google doesn’t make it any easier by making it seem like it’s a piece of cake. Not just them by the way but every single of the hundreds of paid ad platforms out there.

A scam? No. These platforms basically say, we have a network of sites where you can advertise. We’ll let you access this network. You’re in charge of how you do that. If you use it in a way where you spend more than you take in, that’s on you.

I agree with you about the data. I’m a data guy. I’m sure Google has their reasons for doing things the way they do. It’s their business and they can do what they want, just like I do things the way I see best for my business. I do the best I can with what I’ve got.

Others have tried before with similar grievances but not much has come from them. If you want to sue them, go ahead. It’s your time and money and I do wish you luck but I don’t expect anything to come of it. I think this will be even more frustrating for you.

In my experience, I’m talking years, the issue is businesses thinking online marketing is easy when it’s not. When you don’t understand something, you are likely to lose money and this is exactly what is happening. Even many agencies have little clue and that is even more frustrating when a business hires one and sees no results. I’ve seen this three times in the last few weeks doing audits, pointing out where the problems are created by an agency.
